Ben completed his undergraduate training at Downing College, University of Cambridge in 1998 after which he moved to Oxford. Ben taught anatomy to undergraduate students and completed a MSc thesis at Christ Church, University of Oxford. Following this he returned to surgical training for 3 years. This was followed by a further period of research towards a DPhil (PhD) thesis at the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine, Oxford University. After his thesis, Ben was awarded an NIHR “Walport Lecturership” in Urology in the Oxford Deanery. In 2013, Ben was appointed as a senior clinical researcher in the Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences.
Ben’s research and clinical interest is in the biology and treatment of kidney kidney stone disease. He initiated the Oxford Stone Group which aims to advance this field through research and clinical expertise. Ben has travelled nationally and internationally to gain expertise in this field. He regularly presents at international meetings.
